On 4th September, Mott MacDonald, who are responsible for the endorsement, assessment and accreditation process, met with the NAAS leads in the West Midlands region and FutureSocial colleagues to help shape the ongoing Phase 2 implementation of NAAS up to March 2020. This was followed by the second meeting of the Task and Finish Group.
The majority of councils and trusts were in attendance and this enabled a great sharing of innovative ideas about the promotion of NAAS and the best ways to support candidates before and after endorsement and assessment. There was a helpful discussion about the challenges of NAAS as well as the benefits for individuals, Councils and Trusts, the social work profession and children and families.
Members of the group shared a range of materials that they had devised and there was a real commitment to develop a regional set of materials that could be used by each Council and Trust and for these to be accessible here on the WMCS website for all practitioners - so watch this space!
There has been a lot to celebrate this month. So far, 18 candidates have registered for assessment in September with significantly more anticipated to register for October and November.
A number of candidates have successfully been accredited, including social work practitioners, PSW and Senior Managers. Congratulations to all of the NAAS Pioneers who have undertaken the endorsement and assessment process. You are paving the way for everyone!
If you have any queries about NAAS, please speak to your Council or Trust NAAS lead.
