Improving the practice of participation with experts by experience

A new network is being formed under the West Midlands Children’s Services Banner.

Following a successful workshop which brought together the Participation Leads from the 14 councils and trusts in February, the first Meeting of the Participation Leads Network is scheduled for Tuesday 31st March. This network is being set up to allow for the sharing of best practice in involving the participation of experts by experience in decision making processes and strategy forming as well as developing regional links to allow for wider consultation to be undertaken.

The first meeting will be primarily concerned with inviting thoughts about how best any desired outcomes for the network can be achieved.

Terms of reference will then be developed, a process which will be a beta testing of the new terms of reference development tool being introduced into the region to ensure effective and consistent governance.

This initial meeting will be chaired by Sheila Bates and facilitated by Jenny Butlin-Moran although the make-up and structure of any future network leadership will be one of the matters for consideration at the meeting.
